During the event outstanding members of the community were honored for their efforts
Qatar University (QU) organizes its Annual Opening Convocation for the Academic Year 2022-2023 yesterday where a number of awards were distributed to individuals who have distinguished themselves in the academic, administrative and community service fields. The convocation honors outstanding faculty, staff and alumni.
The following individuals received awards in yesterday’s event: Dr. Gheyath Khaled Nasrallah,
Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences won the Merit Award for Outstanding Faculty; Dr. Hanan Abdul Rahim, Dean of College of Health Sciences won the Outstanding Faculty Service Award; Dr. Noora Hamad Fetais, Associate Professor of Computer Science won the Outstanding Faculty Service Award; Dr. Hatem Zayed Ibrahim, Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences won the Outstanding Teaching Award; Abdulla Hamid Al-Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department won the Outstanding Media Contribution Award.
In addition, two graduates, Nasser Al-Hajri and Fatma Al-Majed won individual Young Alumnus Awards.
QU President Dr. Hassan Al-Derham spoke at the event saying, “As we hold this forum today, we renew an academic tradition that has been an important part of Qatar University’s journey, where we honor exceptional members of our community. During this event, our determination is sharpened, our drive is strengthened and we boost our hope in the future, for coming generations and to our homeland, as we aspire to do, and as is expected of us from our wise leadership under the direction of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar.”
QU Director of Communications and Public Relations, Dr. Hitmi Al-Hitmi said, “Qatar University has launched a number of awards to honor winners in a number of fields, including the Outstanding Media Contribution Award, which aims to enhance the University’s role in serving the community through the intellectual wealth that it boasts through the media.”
QU Head of Media and Publications, Communications and Public Relations Department, Kholeh Mortazawi said, “The annual convocation has become a special event in Qatar University, where a number of distinguished members of our community are honored for their outstanding contributions.”
She adds, “Qatar University, which is a beacon of excellence and leadership, takes great care to support individuals who excel in each of their respective areas, with the aim of creating the ideal environment to stimulate and encourage excellence and to have a clear and positive contribution to the achievement of strategic national visions and comprehensive development plans.”
This annual event is an important occasion in which the different entities in QU review their most important achievements from the past year and honor distinguished members of their academic cadres and staff
